In process art, the journey of creating is just as important (or even more important) than the final outcome. The focus is on the adventure of making art, experimenting with the materials and the process, without worrying too much about getting it "right" or making something specific.
Sensory play is a type of play that engages children's senses—sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing—during activities that are designed to stimulate and explore their sensory experiences. The focus is on providing kids with opportunities to use their senses to learn about the world around them in a hands-on and playful manner. Sensory play is naturally investigative, encourages fine and gross motor skill development, provides natural communication opportunities and is FUN!
Each class has a recommended age listed in the description. The Toddler and Preschool Sensory Playgroups are similar with just a few variations in materials to make them better suited toward the appropriate age group. For older children interested in art you are welcome to enroll them in a Sensory Playgroup as we have art materials available for them to explore independently during that time. These classes are focused on introductcan be used.
If you would like for your child to receive more guided instruction in art skill development, the Guided Art classes would be a good choice. These classes focus on introducing the Elements and Principles of Art and applying these principles in projects. These classes require a longer attention span as the class is 60 minutes although students are free to take breaks and return to their project if needed.
We do not currently offer a monthly membership however we do have the option to pay for a 10 week semester in monthly installments. These payments end when the semester ends so you will need to re-enroll for the next semester if you would like to continue attending.
All Preschool and Toddler Sensory Playgroup participants require a parent to stay. We encourage you to participate with your child and have communication prompts around the studio to facilitate this.
Absolutely! We have years of experience working with children with a variety of support needs and are happy to work with you on whatever accomodations you may need for your child to have a wonderful experience with us. We also know the benefits that sensory play can have for little learners with diverse skills and needs. Please email us to discuss how we can support your child in our studio.
